What is the VE-Client Manager Plugin for WordPress

Client Site Monitoring, Updates, Security & Reporting

The VE-Client Manager is a branded plugin that links a clients WordPress site to our very own central dashboard run using the popular MainWP WordPress Management system. The dashboard along with many additional premium features allows us to monitor, control and receive reports regarding WordPress management and maintanance tasks, including and not limited to updates, backups and security at any given point in time.

From the dashboard, we can set, complete, and monitor certain aspects of client sites to ensure it’s running and performing as expected.

Not everything is complete via our dashboard. Certain checks and tasks must be completed manually and usually via direct login to the client's site.

The VE-Client Manager also comes with the VE-Client Reports plugin which logs activity and steps taken to maintain a client's site. Most activities can then be presented in a report made available to clients on a periodic basis.

You can rest assured as a client that we are always keeping an eye on your best interests.

There are an estimated 64 million WordPress websites currently online, which makes up a massive 65.2% of all Web Content Management Systems (CMS) available.

Approximately 661 new sites appear daily with over 50,000 sites being built on a daily basis. All using the popular and ever-expanding WordPress system.

WordPress is a popular choice for many design agencies, freelancers and businesses worldwide and is licensed as open-source software using the GPL v2 (or later) licence from the Free Software Foundation.

This means that anyone can freely use, adapt and distribute the software as long as the same licence is applied.

WordPress u
sers currently have access to over 55,000+ additional plugins and themes, often created by teams of developers that add and expand features to the core WordPress system.

This however unfortunately comes with risks that make WordPress hosted sites a prime target for savvy web hackers.

Vulnerabilities within plugins, themes and poorly customised code can cause concern for data and security breaches. This is where WordPress Management and Maintenance services can be extremely helpful.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF

1. Do you have the time and resources to maintain your website?

2. What would you do if you lost access to your site and all its data?

3. How damaging could that be to you, your business in time and money?

Why do you need managed services?

Creating and maintaining a site can often be time-consuming, especially if you have little knowledge or don’t have access to the right resources.

Even if you feel confident to create something yourself, you still have security issues, maintenance, backups and data protection to keep on top off. It’s no longer a case where you can build something and then just leave it alone.

Certain aspects need to be checked regularly such as security vulnerabilities, firewalls, software and plugin updates, bug fixes and manual checks to ensure your site is performing as expected.

If you don’t have a lot of time but need to make sure your site is always up-to-date with the current best practices, then a WordPress Management service could very well be the soloution your looking for.

But, cant I just use auto updates to keep on top of everything?

You could opt into Auto Updates, however with WordPress being open source not all code is checked and new updates, plugins etc.. can cause a conflict of interest causing critical errors.

With every upside there are downsides as not all plugins will work side by side. Often these conflicts are a deciding factor in which plugins to use, but can often cause sites to break.

It could be something as simple as the design layout getting messed up, or in a worse case scenario they open up a security vulnerability ready for hackers to take advantage of.

A trusted WordPress Management service provider will keep upto date on known vulnerabilities, conflicts and more, but most importantly take the actions required to fix any problems quickly and efficiently.

The Importance of Security

If you are serious about your website and its success then security should be of major importance to you.

It only takes one individual or bot to plant some malware onto your site to cause serious problems. Problems such as data-leaks, data-loss, page errors, malicious pop-ups and so much more.

The truth is, there is no such things as system that is 100% secure, but there are deterents and security measures that can be put in place to make it extremely hard for hackers to take control of your site and data.

We take our security and that of our clients seriously ensuring that all our WordPress Management services receive regular malware scans, security checks, firewall updates and have available deterents put in place.

The Importance of Backups

Data theft and data loss are both extremely common online. Varonis reported a total of 5,250 confirmed data breaches in 2021 with costs of breaches reaching upto multi million figures.

Reality is you don’t have be a giant corporate company for data loss and theft to be extremely costly and/or damaging to your business.

Your first line of defense is to maintain regular backups which will enable you to restore the lost data in cases of data loss, theft or when the need arises to restore your site to a point before something went wrong with its features and designs (themes, plugins, custom code).

Our WordPress Management services include daily and incremental backups which are stored off site in multiple locations.

Auto-Updates

Auto-Updates can be extremely problematic due to plugin incompatabilities and conflicts. With the WordPress system constantly evolving core updates can also cause issues with how your site behaves if your not careful.

Security

Protecting your site from the offset is vitally important but like any computer system nothing is 100% fool proof. This is why it is important to put in place the latest firewall and security rules along with regular periodic scans. There are many other options and barriers you can put in place to deter hackers and un-wanted visitors. Specifically those who use brute force password hacking.
